Chili, Basketball, and Christmas dinner!

One week until Christmas Break finds me frantically writing my last blog for 2011.  December, as always at WHSS, has been a very busy month.  Warm Winter Wishes is in full swing.  Silent auction, pyjamarama, student/staff hockey game, chili cook off (yes, Virginia, Santa does eat White Christmas Chili) and a myriad of other activities have been taking place. In December, WHSS also held its Grade 8 Parent's night.  Our dept. head's put together some very interactive and appealing displays to showcase their subject area.

In the land of sports, both our girls and boys hockey teams have been very successful thus far.  Congratulations, of course, must go to our Junior and Senior girls basketball teams and their coaches for their play and second place finish at CWOSSA.  Look for some new banners to be raised in our gym very soon!

Dec 21 Christmas dinner will be served in our cafeteria.  Thanks to our food program and cafeteria ladies for all their work preparing this meal. Our Christmas Assembly will take place on Dec 23, where the talents of WHSS will be showcased.  As well, our Comm Tech program hope to unveil our Lip dub at the assembly.  After it is completed, the finished product will be posted on Youtube.  Only those students who returned the permission forms were allowed to appear in the Lip dub.

Very soon in the new year, students will be asked to complete their option forms for the 2012-2013 school year.  Our guidance dept. asks that student and parent sit down and take some time discussing the appropriate courses that should be selected.  If you require any assistance or have a question, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Rowden or Mrs. Illingworth in our guidance department.

From everyone at WHSS, we would like to wish our school community a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  See you in 2012!
