After a fulfilling 30 year career, Mr. Hicks has announced that he is retiring as of June 30th. Westwood will miss Mr. Hicks and his ongoing dedication to our students and their families. His sense of humour will be missed by all. We wish him the best as he embarks on this new era of his life. We look forward to him dropping by to visit in his retirement.

Our new Vice Principal is Mike Anderson. Mr. Anderson is a well known and respected Curriculum Leader with the School Board. He has been into Westwood many times to lead workshops for the staff. He will be a great addition to the Westwood community.

Construction is about to begin. Fencing should be in place in the near future as our school site becomes a construction zone. Our courtyard will be closed throughout the project and JK students will be on the yard with the other primary children.

Congratulations and a big thank you to the Westwood Community for supporting the Boogie-a-thon. Once again the Boogie-a-thon was a huge success and a great time was had by all. This year we raised $4200.00 in this important fund raiser. Monies raised help support our students use of technology at Westwood.

I would like to thank Ms Murray for her organization and enthusiasm for this event. Most likely the construction will begin toward the end of April. There will be some inconveniences during the period of construction due to various doors being un-accessible. Construction will include: 2 new kindergarten classrooms, retro-fitting an existing classroom, a new junior classroom, a seminar room, and a wheelchair accessible washroom. We are excited to have these improvements to our school.
