Wednesday, May 4, 2016 Day 2

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for wearing green to support Mental Health. Did you know that how our bodies feel affects how good we are feeling? Three of the best things you can do to improve your mood is to exercise, sleep well and eat well. Go for a walk or play a game, get outside, turn off the devices an hour before bed and eat fresh food! The more you do to help your body feel good, the better you will feel! Have a SUPER Day!

The Westside Girls Rugby Team put up a tough fight against the #1 team in our division but fell 25 to 7 yesterday. The player of the match goes to Carly Amos for her tough hits and strong tackles the entire game. All players need to rest up and we will see you at the practice on Thursday.

It’s Wednesday once again! That means that the Magic Card Club will be meeting in room 321. Why not come out at lunch for a friendly game? New members are always welcome, so we’ll see you there.

Track practices continue today after school.

The Financial Aid/OSAP workshop is today at 10:15 in Room 327.

We are looking for students to volunteer this Saturday and Sunday at Fresh Co. to fundraise for our Breakfast Program. If you have some spare time on the weekend and would like to help with the Bbq or bagging groceries please see Mrs. Leclair in the baking lab.

All students going on the trip to the Rainbow Coalition Conference at the University of Guelph, please be here by 7:50 tomorrow morning the bus is leaving at 8. Please remember to bring a lunch or money to buy a lunch.

Credit Meadows elementary school is desperately looking for volunteers to help out with their math night this Thursday from 6 - 9 pm. Please go to student services for more information.

Reminder that there is a Senior Band rehearsal today after school. Also, there is a Clarinet workshop for all Junior Band members today in the music at lunch.

Information regarding the Westside Softball team’s practice and tournament will be posted outside Room 112 today at lunch. Spots are limited for the Softball team so don’t delay.

 Tuesday, May 3, 2016 Day 1

Happy Tuesday! Let’s all be more mentally healthy by doing things that we enjoy. Hang out with friends. Read a book. Go for a walk. Paint a picture. Do a dance. Play a sport. Sing a song. Have fun! Laughter is the best way to increase your mood. Don’t forget to wear green tomorrow to support Mental Health! Have a SUPER Day!

Please excuse the Girls Rugby Team from their last class today for their game against GCVI in Guelph. The bus leaves at 1:30pm sharp ladies so be dressed and on board 5 minutes ahead of time!!!!!

From Track and Field - there is no high jump or throws practice today at lunch due to a meeting. If you would like to practice Wednesday at lunch come and see Mr Wardle tomorrow at the beginning of lunch in the first floor work room. We will still have practice on Thursday at lunch as usual.

Happy Monday! This week is Child and Youth Mental Health Week and we are going to have a SUPER Week! This week we will make connections, increase our well-being and talk about mental health. Let’s start the week by connecting to others. Say hi to 3 people that you have not said hi to before. Do a random act of kindness. Connecting to others makes us and those around us feel good. Have a SUPER Day!

All musicians going to Laurelwoods this morning please come to the music room immediately after the announcements. The bus leaves at 9 a.m.

Link Crew is looking for kind, dedicated grade 10 and 11 students who are interested in helping others. Students who show respect for diverse ideas and personalities. Applications for next year’s Link Crew Program are now available in the front office. If you are in grade 10 or 11 and looking to be part of the Link Crew experience next year, please pick one up.

Congratulations to all Track and Field members who participated in Track Wars on a cold Friday. Special mention to Kieran Gagnon who set personal bests in all 4 events he entered. Next practice is Wednesday. Please see Mr. Lawler this week to enter events for Districts next week.
