Kindergarten and Full Day Early Learning Kindergarten

Kindergarten kid playing with paintsKindergarten is a two year program that includes Junior (year 1) and Senior (year 2) Kindergarten. We invite you to register your child for Kindergarten at your local school. To find out which school serves your neighbourhood, visit www.findmyschool.ca.

In September, 2010, our Board began offering the full day kindergarten program in some schools as part of a province wide implementation plan. As of September 2014, all elementary schools in our Board offer full day kindergarten. At our 65 elementary schools, JK and SK children attend all day, every day.

In 2015, the Board launched a new and improved website for kindergarten registration.

The new site is more streamlined and user-friendly, and provides parents and guardians with the information they need when enrolling their children in school, including how to register, information about Upper Grand’s kindergarten program, tips for getting young children ready for school, information on before and/or after school programs and more.

To view the new site, visit www.ugdsb.on.ca/kindergarten.

French Immersion is also offered at some schools: École Guelph Lake, Arbour Vista, Edward Johnson, FA Hamilton, John McCrae, King George, Paisley Road, and Victory (City of Guelph); Harris Mill (Rockwood); James McQueen (Centre Wellington), Princess Elizabeth (Orangeville for all Dufferin County), Brisbane (East Wellington), and Palmerston (North Wellington). To determine what school in your area offers French Immersion, visit www.findmyschool.ca, click on "Which School do I Attend?" and choose JK as the grade.

Kindergarten is the beginning of a lifelong adventure. As a parent you are your child's first teacher and most important teacher. We look forward to working together with you.
