EQAO

All Grade 3 and Grade students will be writing EQAO tests the mornings of May 28, 29, 30 and June 3, 4 and 5. Grade 3 will write between 8:30 and 10:00 am and Grade 6 will write between 10:30 and 12:00 pm. Please ensure that students get plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast during this time. Please also avoid appointments that may interfere with testing.

We are looking for several parents/guardians who would be willing to volunteer at PEPS during our EQAO assessment. Volunteers will assist students who require additional support for this assessment. Please let us know if you would be interested and available during this period. Merci!

In the next couple of days, all Kindergarten to Grade 6 students will be bringing home two parent guides to help you in supporting your children in reading, writing and mathematics. These guides are compliments of the Ministry of Education and are intended for parents to gain a better understanding of the curriculum , how it applies in “real-life” situations and how you can support your children by providing meaningful activities and suggestions on how to improve Reading, Writing and Math skills.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us

As the holiday season approaches, we often find ourselves reflecting on how blessed we are to live in a peaceful country with so many riches that we often take for granted.

As a PEPS staff, we really do not need gifts. If you are purchasing a gift for one of our staff this holiday season, we would ask that you consider making a donation to our ME to WE Group instead...our focus this year is on raising funds to provide clean water and sanitation to a village through the Free the Children organization. You can donate directly on-line or make a donation to the school and we will add to our end of the year donation
www.freethechildren.com/internationalprogramming/ our-model/clean-water-and-sanitation/

This spring, the ME to WE group will be coordinating a penny drive. However, you are welcome to drop off pennies anytime (rolled or unrolled). Merci Beaucoup! Other ways your family could give instead of receive:

  • *donate items to PEPS for Mitten Tree/Food Bank (see page 5)
  • *donate to the Dufferin Christmas Hamper program that provides food and gifts to low income families*
  • *donate a coat, non-perishable food item or unwrapped toy for Family Transition Place (PEPS has families currently living at FTP) at the Mill Street Mall

Enjoy the season,
Tracy Armstrong and Sean Singh

How quickly the month of October has flown by.

On Remembrance Day, we will be having a whole school assembly following morning recess at 10:45 AM. Parents/Guardians are more than welcome to attend this assembly—just sign into the office upon arrival. We will also provide poppies for students for a small donation.

Staff have started working on Progress Reports which will be sent home with grades 1—8 students on Friday, November 16. There is an expectation that teachers meet with all parents/guardians to discuss progress and will be arranging interviews to facilitate these discussions.
