The Planning Department is responsible for the planning of student accommodation within the District.
Planning staff lead accommodation review studies in which the public is involved in determining the future of existing schools and the need for new schools and additions. We also establish and manage the attendance areas for schools within the District, annually determine the need for portable classrooms, reserve, acquire and dispose of school sites, liaise with local municipal planners and develop short and long-term enrolment projections for evaluating current and future accommodation needs.
Our department is keenly aware of the sensitivity of the work we do and how individual families, neighbourhoods and communities are affected by changes to school accommodation.
