The Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) Capital Plan, approved in principle by Trustees, proposes the construction of a new elementary school in the Town of Shelburne. Property has been acquired for the school adjacent to the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex. Approved by trustees at the Board meeting on January 24, 2012, the New Shelburne Elementary School Boundary Review will proceed with the goal of setting an attendance area boundary for this new school, and resolving issues of overcrowding at Hyland Heights Elementary School.

Public Information Session

A Public Information Session was held on Thursday, May 10 at Hyland Heights from 7 to 9 p.m. This was an opportunity to hear first-hand about the boundary review, ask questions, talk to staff and other parents, and provide us with feedback for consideration before the final report goes to trustees for a vote on June 26.

Delegations

The regular meeting of the Business Operations Committee will be held on June 12 at Centre Dufferin District High School, starting at 7 p.m. in the Cafetorium. The agenda for this meeting has not been set, but the change in venue (from Guelph) has been made to give parents the opportunity to delegate about the boundary review in their own community – if they so wish.

Individuals, organizations and groups are welcome to speak to the Board as a delegation at a Regular Board or Standing Committee meeting. To appear as a delegation you must apply in writing to the Board Chair not later than noon on the Wednesday before the scheduled Tuesday meeting date.
