Event brings kids and parents together at Arthur P.S.
Arthur Public School used Parents Reaching Out (PRO) grant money to host its first ever “GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME” NIGHT. Some highlights from the event:
- Two separate presentations ( JK- GR. 4 & Gr. 5-8) given by illustrator, Chuck Temple, from the Brady Brady book series
- All students JK-4 received a Brady Brady book to take home
- All students grades 5-8 received a free pen
- Book reading and signing in the library by Chuck Temple
- Door prizes, Snacks, Games, Bake Sale.
- Musical entertainment in the hall provided by 3 parents
- Workshops for students and parents. e.g. Cartooning, Mediamecca – digital imaging/modeling/graphic artistry
- Board games set up in the gym with demonstrations
- Used book sale
- Community support /booths from: Reflections Book Store, Arthur & Area Library, Arthur & Area Literacy Council, Wellington County Childcare Resource Centre, Shaw Music Studios, Jesters
Over 320 people attended the evening. The gym was constantly full of kids and parents sitting down playing games and reading. There was great social interaction and feeling of unity. Arthur Public School hopes to make this an annual event.
