A bit of a change of schedule for tomorrow. A presentation on bike safety and a chance for students to have their bikes checked if they are brought to school has been scheduled, so we will need to postpone our public library visit until Wednesday.

A reminder that the North Wellington Track and Field meet has been postponed from Monday, June 18 to Tuesday, June 19 for anyone selected to represent our school. Anyone on the track and field team who usually gets pizza on Tuesday will be provided with it on Wednesday. All others will still get their pizza on Tuesday. Our class will still attend our scheduled walking trip to the public library on Tuesday where we will hear about the summer reading program being offered there and about all the fabulous events the library has planned for the summer.

In light of the weather forecast for tomorrow, Track and Field has been postponed until Monday, June 4. Please remember that we will be outside all day so send your child prepared with plenty to drink, sunscreen, a hat, etc. Good luck to all athletes on Monday!

Recycling Creation

Classes in our school were challenged for Earth Week to create a sculpture made from recycled materials based on concepts in the curriculum for that grade. Our class chose to base our sculpture on the theme of respect for the earth that was such a focal point of our trip to Earthkeepers in April. Our hard work planning, designing, creating and painting our sculpture paid off as we were the competition winners for the junior division! Ask your child to describe our creation, which was truly a team effort. Well done Grade 5!

* A reminder that our Social Studies test on Early Civilizations takes place on Thursday, May 24. All handouts should have now gone home to help students study for this test so check with your child if you have not yet seen literature or summary sheets covering all topics listed on the review that was sent in Home Folders on May 11.

* We will try to fit in another visit to the public library before the month comes to an end. Depending on the weather forecast for next week, we will attempt to make this trip on either Tuesday, May 29 or Wednesday, May 30.

A reminder of two upcoming tests:

- Tuesday, May 1 is our math test on 3D geometry and measurement

- Students will complete their second recorder performance task on Wednesday, May 2. Students should have brought home their music folder with the songs to be practiced. Song #13 will be assessed, and Song #14 is a bonus song for anyone who would like an extra challenge!
