LIGHT UP THIS SCHOOL !!!!!!!!!!!

As a school fundraiser at Paisley Road Public School, we have decided to help another school in Sierra Leone, a country in Africa.   GEKO, a local NGO in Sierra Leone, is working on a project to help a small village.  They are working to extend the school in Foroad Loko and to make room for all the students . There are almost 200 students and they have a tiny one-room school house.  They don't have electricity.  We hope to help to light up the school.  We need to fundraise $3361 to light up the school. That would pay for all the materials to build it; the people in the community are volunteering to build the school.  GEKO is paying teacher salaries to help educate the children. Here are some ideas to help:

  • Support the Chore-a-thon by donating to our students who wish to EARN money by doing chores to support this school
  • Donate money

Thank you for your help Paisley Road Public School!

We are very excited about our upcoming 3 Up 2 Down and Petite Blanche Events!  Our 3 Up 2 Down event will be held on May 6th from 6:30 to 8:00 and is a great opportunity for families to learn more about healthy lifestyles.  We would like to thank Maggie Grift who has worked very hard to organize this event in a way that would be fun and informative.  Thanks, Maggie!  Please see this newsletter for information about this event.

We are also very excited about Petite Blanche!  Petite Blanche is a celebration of the arts: musical, visual, dramatic, and written.  Our kick-off assembly will be held on May 7th, with musical and dramatic presentations from several guests, as well as members of our Paisley Road staff. Our celebration of the Arts will continue throughout the months of May and June and culminate in our community-wide celebration on June 20th.  We would like to thank Deanna Kruger and Karyn Boscariol for the time and effort they have spent planning and organizing this event!  We would also like to thank Mme Kastner, Mme Gat and all of the other parent volunteers involved in preparing this exciting event!

We hope you read the Guelph Tribune article on our PHL league.  It was a wonderful article on a fantastic Paisley tradition!  There are many extra-curricular activities that are happening and will continue to happen during the remainder of the school year.  A very big thank you to all of our staff who give their time and energy to provide these enriching activities!

Enjoy the wonderful sunshine and warm temperatures; spring has finally sprung!

Best wishes,
