Happy Valentine's Day! News

Report cards went home on Friday. I hope you have all had a chance to read them over and celebrate your child's success with them. We are finishing up our measurement unit in math, please practise making change with your son or daughter as many of the students seem to find this tricky. In language, we are focusing on 'asking questions' to make sense of the text. We are still practising getting more than one piece of evidence from the text to support our answers.

Welcome to December! Time is really flying, and soon the winter break will be here. Our class is scheduled to perform at the Grade 6 showing of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. We will be performing the song "Your a mean one Mr. Grinch". If you are able to attend please have your child to the school by 6:45 to get set up. We have been practicing in class, and I am looking forward to seeing the students sing. Xmas tree

This month we will be wrapping up a number of units. The grade 5's are presenting their work on Conservation of Energy next week, while the grade 4's present their Regions of Canada assignments. In math we are completing our measurement unit; students should be able to measure angles with a protractor and describe various 3D shapes using mathematical language. Over the winter break, I encourage students to keep reading and perhaps begin a bit of research on our upcoming science and social studies units. In grade 4 students will be investigating Pulleys and Gears in science and Medieval Times in social studies. Grade 5's will examine Forces on Structures in science and Early Civilizations in social studies.
