GUELPH, Ontario – The Dufferin Wellington Special Needs Strategy has provided an update regarding a provincial initiative to improve delivering services to children and youth with special needs and their families.
The Upper Grand District School Board is a Dufferin Wellington Planning Table Member involved in Ontario’s Special Needs Strategy. The goal of the strategy is to connect children and youth to the services they need as early as possible and improve the experience of families in three areas:
- Identifying kids earlier and getting them the right help sooner
- Coordinating service planning
- Making supports and service delivery seamless
In its latest update, the Dufferin Wellington Special Needs Strategy provided information regarding integrated rehabilitation services.
Beginning in the fall, the group will seek input on how to best implement proposed changes to the delivery of rehabilitation services, and how to make those changes as seamless as possible for children, youth and their families.
The full communiqué can be found on their website. Members of the community are also invited to provide their input to help develop a new system of services and supports for children and youth with special needs.
