Exciting news is coming to the University of Guelph this week. On Thursday, April 26th, the Canadian Olympic Committee in partnership with Athletics Canada, Speed River Track and Field Club and the University of Guelph will be hosting a press conference to announce the 2012 Olympic Marathon team. The event will be held at the University of Guelph Alumni Stadium. Expected to be named to the team will be local running stars Eric Gillis and Reid Coolsaet. We are very grateful to Dave Scott-Thomas, running coach and Dad of three wonderful Jean Little kids, for inviting us to send 100 students (free of charge) from Grades 4 through 6 to attend the press conference, meet the athletes, get a few autographs, and even run a lap with them at Alumni Stadium! How cool for them to be able to say, as they watch them compete in the Olympics, "hey, I ran with those guys!"
Teachers will be checking with their classes Tuesday morning and interested students will bring home a permission form. IT MUST BE RETURNED THE NEXT DAY, Wednesday, in order for the student to attend. If your child arrives home, sad to have forgotten the permission form at school knowing it MUST be submitted the next morning, no worries. You can click right here for a form to print off at home.
Thanks again to Dave Scott-Thomas for this invitation - what an exciting event for our students to attend!
