Spring Photos

 Permanent link
Lifetouch Canada, the same people who take our fall school photos, is back with an offer of Spring Portraits. In case you have not received the notice at home, you can click here to print off your own copy. Please note that it is possibcamerale to take sibling photographs - be sure to fill in that section of the order form and the photographer will take an individual photo of each child as well as a group shot of brothers and sisters. You will notice that there is no spot for ordering "packages" of photos on this notice. The way it works is that the photos are taken on Friday, then you will receive the proofs soon afterwards (along with an order form) and you can decide when you see them if you would like to order any - please do not send any money on Friday. If you do not like the photo when you see it, you simply return it to the school with no obligation to purchase anything.

Music Monday

 Permanent link

Once again, Jean Little students will be participating in the national music initiativemusic monday known as "Music Monday". On the first Monday in May, we will head outdoors at the same time as children all across the country, and will sing the song, "Tomorrow is Coming", by Winnipeg singer/songwriter Luke Doucet.

The Coalition for Music Education, the organization that started Music Monday, hopes that on May 2 at 11:00 our time (time varies across the country to ensure that the song is being sung at the same moment!), the skies right across Canada will be filled with music. Their idea is to show how music and the arts can galvanize communities, bringing people together for a common, positive and healthy goal.

If you'd like to learn the song, you can listen to it at www.musicmakesus.ca, or www.musicmonday.ca, follow the initiative on Facebook or Twitter, and you can download the song from iTunes for $0.99. Mr. Cutz will be teaching the song in his music lessons - you can help by practicing it at home with your children - then you can come and join us that morning, too!

Jean Little is a "We School in Action!" in which we want to create and maintain a culture of community and global-minded young people who are part of a positive movement!   Our BIG goal is to raise $8500 between now and June to build a school in India!  We CAN do this!  Beginning March 25-April 1 we are doing a quarter drive!  Our challenge to the school:  Let's collect 5000 quarters (which translates to $1250!!), if so there are 5 lucky grade 8 boys who will dress as princess ballerina's for the day!  This is about Kids helping other Kids and making a difference in our school, community, and the world!  Feel like being inspired?  Check out what ordinary kids around Ontario have already accomplished by watching this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCcpnjwMv2g    Jean Little...prepare to take action, and have impact!

Jean Little musicians are once again participating in clef flower

the Upper Grand Elementary Music Teachers' Association (UGEMTA) Music Festival. This is a terrific opportunity for our students to really show their stuff. Many thanks to all of the parents who offered their assistance - we actually had far more volunteers than we needed! Everyone is invited to attend the performances - they will be held at the Legion Hall on York Road in Guelph, and they are free.
