Dear Parents:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break !

This is a list of spelling word for this week. Grade two - might, can't, I'm, don't, be, blue, hear, didn't, mine, hope, night, very.

                                                              Grade three - far, cars, snake, rock, hard, only, pick, sick, barn, lake, stars, duck.

Our test will be on Friday March 23rd.

This is the list of spelling words for next week.Grade two- snow, flake, Easter, bunny, pink, tulip,wizard, eggs, chicken, ducks.

                                                                   Grade three- babies, bears, times, must, until, cookies, leaves, most, names, trees

Our test for next week will take place on Friday March 30th

The big review test will be on Thursday April 5th

We got a surprise on Friday before March Break when our portable was broken into. The pizza and milk orders were stolen along with cash. So, if you sent cash it will be replaced. If you sent a cheque it would be appreciated if you would send a replacement.

Next week, on March 28th in the morning the grade three's will be going to the River Run Center to see a Canadian Children's Dance Theatre production.

Scientist is the Schools will be coming for the grade 2's in April and the focus for both grades will be structures.

The grade three's will be taking a trip to The Wellington County Museum on April 16th in the morning. If you are a grade three parent and would like to go we need one volunteer.

In math, we will be working on problem solving skills related to division and fractions.

We have sent two letters back and forth to our pen-pals in a grade 2/3 class at St. Michael's Catholic school across the yard. We got to meet them and play chess with them on the Friday before March Break.

Dear Parents: Here are a few events happening this month.

Week # 17 Grade 3 spelling words are : trip, visit, wind, bite, buy, sky, through, try, circle, tired, wild, circus.

Week # 17 Grade 2 spelling words are: box, pop, book, your, orange,  by, gum, gun, ring, snap, use, snowball.

This test will take on Friday February 10th.

The big test will take place on Friday February 17th

It is important that all students study every Wednesday and Thursday night for the best results.

On February 17th we will be having our big dictation which involves 5 weeks worth of words.

There is a new intramural event happening next week and it is called Dribble till you Drop. Our class takes part on Day 3 and 5 from 12:50 to 1:10.

This should be alot of fun for students.

Primay Chess club will take place every day 2 in Mrs. O'Connor's portable at first nutrition break from 10:30 until 11:10 during February.

On Wednesday February 8th Term 1 reports go home.

Friday February 17th is the school Danceathon. It is a fundraiser for the school and students get to dance in the gym to a cool disc jockey.

Monday February 20th is Family Day where students and teachers stay home and enjoy events with their family.

Math focus: - numeration- two and three digit subtraction and multiplication, division and problem solving using these operations.

                    measurement- area and perimeter

                    data management- bar and pie graph and 1-2 ratio

Social Studies- Grade 2's - mapping skills, hot and cold countries.

                       Grade 3's - mapping skills, urban and rural communities.

Scientist in the School takes place for the grade 2's on Wednesday Jan 11, 2012 and the topic is Liquids and Solids.Thanks to parents who have volunteered to come in.
