Poetry Anthology: DUE Wednesday, MAY 15TH (-5% for each day late) 

French Comic Books: DUE Wednesday, MAY 15TH (-5% for each day late) 

History Inquiry Project Stage 1: Due Friday, May 17th. 

Students are working individually or in pairs on history research project. We are in the initial planning and researching phase and just beginning the writing phase. Students will be required to ensure that they finish the following at home by Friday if class time is insufficient. Class time will be used to give out appropriate handouts and explicit instructions.  

1. Internet hard copy print off’s or actual books from three reliable sources with key ideas flagged or highlighted. 
2. Bibliography. Click here for format. Creating a proper bibliography 
3. Gist of Key Findings Graphic Organizer. Click here for the graphic organizer. Gist of Findings Planner 
4. Introduction paragraph (rough copy) 

French Quiz: Friday, May 17th. 

-”L’Attaque des zombis” comprehension vocabulary and key phrases  

-The verbs “Aller” and “Faire” in present tense 

-Identifying and conjugating common imperative verbs and the near future tense with “aller” 

**We will be reviewing and doing drills in class to help prepare.

2. Grade 8 Graduation Photo Orders Due May 8th!

History Maps: DUE FRIDAY, MAY 10th 

Students have been working on copying and labeling maps showing the evolution of Canadian history for the past 5 weeks. Students must complete 4 of the 7 map choices.  

Poetry Anthology: DUE MONDAY, MAY 13TH 

Students have been working on composing and compiling a poetry anthology for the past 5 weeks. Once you’ve completed your final draft, publish your good copy on a separate sheet of paper and place it in your Poetry Anthology Duo-tang. 

You must have the following in your anthology: 

Title Page > which names the poetry collection and the name of the author 

A Table of Contents > List the names of all your poems and the page number. You can organize them any way you want. 

Your anthology must contain the following: 

3 Cinquain  

3 Limericks 

3 Haikus 

3 Clerihews 

3 Acrostics 

3 Found Poems 

3 Free Verse

Grammar Package: 

It is time to sharpen up our written language skills! This six page package will focus on the proper use of nouns, capitalization and commas.

1. Thursday, April 25th > District Review (A team of educators will be observing how our school operates as a whole. Feedback will be given to the teaching staff to help inform us in our development of strategies for growth and pedagogical improvement.)

• Continue practicing your lines for the FSL play “L’Attaque Des Zombis”. Due: Friday,  April 26th.   
• See the previous blog posting to see the support video and a copy of the script.  

Weekly 6 Poetry Anthology: 

- Hand in any 7-10  finalized and edited poems from your collection. Poems can be grouped by genre (ex: cinquains, or limericks) on a single loose sheet of paper, or can be copied onto individual loose sheets of paper. Please place them and hand them in you red anthology duo-tang. This will serve as a mid-way check in to ensure that students are working productively on their anthologies.

Due to the recent inclement weather, last week’s homework will be postponed to the middle of this week. See last week’s post for instructions.

GRADE 8 Trip: 

I have had a few questions from parents regarding the trip and last year’s fundraising efforts. 

If your child raised money through choclate bar sales, then you will receive a cheque from the school for the amount raised some time in the near future. If you have further questions please contact the office directly.
