Dear Parents/Guardians,
While the month of June is usually thought of as the end of a school year and the beginning of summer fun, it’s also important to think of this time of year as a milestone of personal and academic growth for each and every student. Over the past ten months, each student has grown and developed at their own pace and in their own time. It’s the small baby steps that happen each and every day, that lead students to become better readers, writers, artists, creators, scientists; and most importantly, caring individuals who understand that they are a small part of a larger whole in our school, community, and the world. These steps are definitely worthy of celebration and parents are encouraged to talk with their child/ren about what they know and can do now that they couldn’t do when they entered their grade last September. What have they learned and how are they different a year later? Reflection is an essential practice in life that helps us grow, learn, and become continually better at what we do and who we are.

You will likely have already heard that there will be a new Principal at Hyland Heights this coming September and that I will be starting new again as Principal at Spencer Avenue E.S. in Orangeville. It’s my pleasure to announce that Mr. Mitch Zuk will be the Principal at Hyland Heights next year. Mr. Zuk is an experienced administrator who is looking forward to getting to know the HHES community and I know that he will be warmly welcomed, as this is one of the trademarks of our special community.
