Specialist High Skills Major - A Path for Success
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.
CDDHS is proud to offer three majors - construction, business and healthy active living.
CDDHS is excited to be offering, for the second consecutive year, the "Build a House Program" in semester 2 of the 2012/2013 school year. This four credit, full day, full semester program will start in Feb. 2013 and students will experience all aspects of home building in a real world setting. Upon successful completion of the semester, students receive 2 co-op credits and 2 construction credits.
The on line SHSM certification site can be accessed at: http://uppergrand.claritynet.com You will need your user name and password to log in to the site.

Dual Credits
The Dual Credit Program is a one semester program where students have the option of taking a course offered by a college. A dual credit is a college course that counts towards a student's secondary school diploma as well as a college program. For next year, we will be offering dual credits at Humber (Alder St. campus in Orangeville) and Georgian College (Orangeville). Tuition and textbooks are paid for by the School College Work Initiative consortium. For some programs, transportation to the college is provided; in others the student will be reimbursed for their travel.
