Spartan's involved in CA No limits conference
Eight of Centennial's brightest Accounting students participated in CA No Limits in Toronto on May 17. Each year, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario hosts a conference at the Royal York for over 550 high school students to learn about the CA profession. Several of Canada's top CAs were there offering their insights including CAs from the Toronto Blue Jays, BMW, Cineplex, Loblaw and Rogers. A panel of current University accounting students spoke and answered questions about their journey through school and CA exams.
Despite the 6:00 a.m. departure time, Madeline, Alex, Scott, Zack, Odessa, Breah, Kritta and Kelsey enjoyed learning how a CA designation can be a platform to the world of business. Next week, several Centennial students will be writing the CA COIN Challenge to test their accounting skills. Good luck Spartans!

CCVI Students excel at Science Olympics
The Senior Teams placed 1st in Race for Treasure, 2nd in Plastic Plants, and 3rd in Environmental Science, BioBlast, Anatomy, and Microbiology.
The Junior Teams placed 1st in Environmental Science, Nanoscience, Physics, and DNA Barcode, 2nd in Race for Treasure and What Weed is This? 3rd in Build a Bug, Learning Triathlon, Anatomy, and Microbiology. A special congratulation should go out the junior teams that were mostly made up of grade 9 students and they often had to compete in events with less than 4 team members. It was another great display of Centennial's strong science department and the effort our students put into their work!

Teachers edge students by 1
In the annual teacher versus student basketball, the crowd was treated to great game of basketball. In a game that went back and forth in the first half, the students eventually gained a ten point lead at half. The students continued to put the pressure on the teachers and maintained their lead. However, the teachers made a big comeback in last couple of minutes, eventually taking a one point lead with less than minute. In the end, the students had 3 shots to win the game in the last seconds, however the shot didn't drop and the teachers came out victorious. It was the first victory for the teachers, after four years of losing to the students. It was a great game and the effort by everyone was a amazing to watch. A special thanks to the all the staff that made the game possible.
