Draft Policy Feedback
First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Self-Identification

Public consultation on this draft policy is now closed.

The policy and procedures for 500 First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Self-Identification were first introduced in 2008 due to a Ministry requirement, and revised in 2009. Some of the language and content in the policy have changed in light of the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (2015).

For the purposes of planning and decision-making surrounding the success of all students, it is important to collect voluntary Indigenous self-identification data.
