Primrose Elementary School

 Primrose Elementary School is a rural JK to Gr. 8 school located just north of the Primrose corner of Highways 10 and 89. Students and staff enjoy a picturesque setting in the hills of Mulmur. It is a relatively new school building, opened in January, 1994 when it replaced the former Mulmur-Mono Public School.

All Primrose students are bussed on one of twelve buses run by two local companies -  Stock and First Student. If buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, the school is closed for the day. 2008/2009 had 14 "No Bus" days and 2009/2010 had 2. The buses also carry high school students some of whom change buses at Primrose.

Students who graduate from Primrose move on to Centre Dufferin & District High School in Shelburne. Graduates often come back to visit and share their news and we are always excited to hear of their successes.

Primrose Elementary School serves as a centre of the Primrose community since our students' families are associated with a variety of places including Shelburne, Alliston, Mansfield and Creemore. The school is supported by a large number of community organizations as can be seen by the awards ceremony each graduation. The School Council is very active and its fundraising efforts "Santa's Breakfast" in December and “Arts Alive” in  the spring are truly tremendous community events.

The Arts is a major area of interest and involvement for Primrose students. Many parents, grandparents, and community members who are local artists respond positively to invitations from teachers to share their expertise and enthusiasm for the Arts with classes. They also give of their time and talent to support school musicals which are regularly mounted by staff  and volunteers who provide exceptional training in singing. Approximately five times during the school year students produce a prerecorded show celebrating the accomplishments of students throughout the school year.  Primrose staff provide students with training in animation, video production, and acting.   These productions (P.VT.V.) have become part of the culture at the school.
