
At APS we have many students who come to school hungry and/or without good, nutritious food in their lunch bags. We provide students with cereal, milk and fruit on a daily basis and also serve a healthy snack, consisting of a fruit or vegetable and milk or whole grain product five days per week. By having healthy food available in each classroom, we avoid stigmatizing students and ensure that all our students are able to focus on their learning. We also expose students to new or more nutritious foods so that students can learn to enjoy healthier foods.
