Quia.com is a great website for students to use at home to review and practice French vocabulary, verb conjugations and grammatical structures. It is a great way to prepare for tests and to build one's knowledge of the French language.

Welcome back to another school year! My name is Madame Novikow and I will be the Core French teacher for students in 6B, 6/7A, 7B, 8A and 8B.This year we will continue to use Histoires en action!, an interactive approach to learning French. This approach allows language development to be supported and nurtured within a familiar context. The vocabulary has been carefully selected as essential for students during the initial stages of their language learning. Another component of this program is the "Gesture Approach", a technique that uses hand signs to help students learn and remember this important vocabulary found in the plays, songs and other activities.
Should you have any questions as the year goes on, feel free to contact me at (519) 848-3793 ext 287 or via email at angela.novikow@ugdsb.on.ca.
Permanent linkHistoires en action! places an equal, strong emphasis on the development of the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Activities are varied to meet the needs of all language-learners and their learning styles as students have the opportunity to work individually, in partners, in small groups and as a whole class. Assessment activities include presentations, participation, dialogues, reading of short texts, oral and written responses to texts, assignments and written tests. Most importantly, students will be assessed on their ability to use French spontaneously.
Permanent linkA successful student listens, participates actively in all class activities (in French), works cooperatively with others, learns gestures and associated vocabulary covered in class and completes all work that is assigned on time. Students are encouraged to ask for help if they are experiencing difficulties. I am available at recesses for additional help.
