We have certainly had some inconsistent weather in April, but hopefully the warmer weather is here to stay. With this warmer weather and now that our snow banks have finally cleared away we can open up our playground structures. We are waiting for our larger structure with the slides to be inspected so that all pieces will be available. A gentle reminder to students and parents who stay after school to use the playground that the same rules that apply during school hours should be in place after school hours to ensure everyone’s safety.

We are gearing up for EQAO for our grade 3 and grade 6 students at the end of the month. All teachers have worked hard to prepare their students and encourage them to do their best.

This year our Volunteer Breakfast will be June 10th at 8:00 am in the gym. We are hoping to see many of our great volunteers attend. Your dedication and commitment continues to benefit your child’s experiences and successes at school.

Report cards have recently been sent home. The teachers have worked very hard on trying to give you a clear representation of your child’s accomplishments. Please review the report with your child and identify his/her strengths and goals to achieve success for the last term of the year. If you have concerns please don’t hesitate to call your child’s teacher.

March break is from March 11th-15th this year. Enjoy the week with your family.

It is amazing how time flies and we are already into February. Report cards come home next week and the teachers have been busy assessing students so that they can give you an accurate account of how your child is doing in school.

Ms.Kubiw is motivating many students to read through our Forest of Reading. Many readers are in the library discussing the books they have read.

It has been a very unusual weather pattern for us this January. Please remember that although one day may be warm the next day may be very cold. Students need to be dressed so that they can be comfortable outside regardless of the weather.

We have come to the end of another busy year. I want to take the opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Aberfoyle for the tremendous job that they have done in meeting the needs of our students. We are lucky to have such a dedicated and caring staff at Aberfoyle! I would also like to thank the many volunteers and parent council members who take the time to make a difference for the students at Aberfoyle. We receive many comments from visitors about what a warm welcoming environment we have here at Aberfoyle. I am very proud of our students, staff and parents who are a part of our community that makes this school so special.

I look forward to the continued partnership between parents and staff next year.

We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday, filled with family and friends.

It was great to see so many parents who took the time to come in and talk to the teachers about their child’s progress. The progress reports are an excellent opportunity to set goals for your child for the upcoming report card in February.

As the weather quickly changes, and we get excited about the onset of winter activities, please remind your child about the importance of safety while playing, walking and running in slippery wet and snowy conditions. Although snowballs are a lot of fun we do not allow the throwing of snowballs at school.

We have noticed that a lot of children are arriving to school late. Please ensure that you get your child to school in a timely manner as this sets the tone for the day and causes less disruption in the classroom. You can set this as a new goal for you and your child.
