Math

The Data Management Units is one of the shorter units we complete in Grade 8.  The students have reviewed bar graphs, histograms, stem and leaf plots and they have spent a week learning the basics of spreadsheets.  In the next few days we will discuss bias in data collection and they will review some central tendency (mean, median and mode).  As a result of the short unit, the next test has been set for Tuesday, Dec. 6th.

Health

Reminder - All Healthy Living posters and projects are due this Friday, Dec, 2nd.

Math

Both classes are working through a Data Management Unit.  Recent periods have involved the introduction of Quatro Pro.  They have been learning the basics of spreadsheets and completing activities in class.  As a result, there has not been Math homework the last couple of nights.

Health

All classes have been given a "Healthy Eating" project.  We have spent two periods of class time working on these assignments and the classes will each receive one more period of class time before they are due.  The due date for this project is Friday, Dec. 2nd.  On the due date students will make a short presentation to their peers highlighting their posters.

Measurement tests were completed this week... students can expect their results Monday.

We have started into our 4th Math unit of the year, Data Management.

Health

- all classes have received their Healthy Eating Unit Projects.  The have been given some class time to get started, and each class will be given two more periods of class time to work on them.  The due date will be specified soon (the students will have approximately two weeks to complete this project).

Math

The Measurement unit test is on Monday.  Friday is a review period and students can practice for the test by going over questions from the unit attempting them again.  Also, the following review has been provided from the Nelson Text;

Volleyball:  boys try-out Tuesday 3-4:30, girls try-out Wed. 3-4:30... all rides need to be arranged before students get to school on practice days.

Friday:  The Intermediate students will walk over to the Community Centre to take part in the Puslinch Remembrance Day Ceremony at 10:30 am
