  Push and Pull Factors 

As an introduction to our unit on migration, students will examine different factors that play a role in the movement of people from and to countries.  Historically, students will play "Pack up and go", matching the different historical migrations and the factors that contributed to them.

 Students will be completing a series of questions based on Chapters 6 through 9 in the History Textbook, to help clarify the events that led to the development of western Canada after Confederation.

 Students will create an "imaginary" good or service to present to investors, similar to the television show, "Dragon's Den."  They will need to explain the purpose of their produc;  the natural, human and capital resources required; and determine a price, based on similar products.

After submission of the graphic organizers (copy attached) and presentation of all products, the students will each be provided a cheque.  They may choose any one product to support financially.  The student whose product or service is supported by the greatest number of investors will be awarded the Aberfoyle Dragon's Den Entrepreneur of 2010.
