]]>However, this year the staff and students in JK - Grade 8 will remember those who have fought, and continue to fight for our freedoms, in a Remembrance Day assembly at 9:00 AM in the school gym.
To prepare for this experience, our Arthur Public School staff and students will be involved in Remembrance Day learning activities prior to November 9 so that our message at the assembly will carry more meaning.
Poppies will be available in the school office. Cash donations to the Arthur Branch #226 are appreciated.
On November 11th the community will gather at the Cenotaph to remember.

]]>Through morning announcements and class discussions, students will be encouraged to reflect on why it is important to be truthful to others and to ourselves. Honesty is about trying your best and doing the right thing. Honesty is also about not taking what you have not rightfully earned. It is about playing by the rules and playing fair. Older students need to develop an understanding of academic honesty by completing their own work and not plagiarizing or claiming the work of others as their own.
Throughout the month, teachers and staff will be recognizing students for demonstrating positive character traits, including honesty, and awarding Arthur Actions and Attitudes tickets.
At our month end assembly, students can win prizes such as tickets to Guelph Storm Hockey games.

We have high expectations of our students. It is very important that you come to school prepared to learn. You will encounter difficulties along the way, but that is where a great deal of learning can occur. We ask that all students start with a positive attitude, work hard, and look for assistance when needed.
At Arthur Public School we want our students to feel that it is safe to take risks without the fear of ridicule. For that reason, it is very important to be empathetic and supportive of your classmates. Do all you can to make others feel better about themselves and the feeling of positive support will spread.

On this night the school welcomes you to come and join us for this wonderful night. This is also an opportunity for the students in the younger grades to show off the artwork they have been doing.

November has been a very busy month at
APS and December looks to be just as
eventful. No doubt the students will be looking
forward to the arrival of snow, where parents
are likely dreading the trials of snow removal
and dangerous driving. Please pay special
attention to the information regarding
inclement weather days and how that may
effect your child’s school day.

Remembrance Day is always a very important day in
the life of our school, our community and our
country. This year the staff and students in JK -
Grade 8 will once again join the Arthur community at
the Cenotaph to participate in our community's
Remembrance Day Service.

Please let us know, through a note or a phone
call, if your child will not be on the bus at night.
Students are not allowed to change buses or go
home with other students on their bus.
Please review with your child the Code of Conduct for riding buses.
]]>On the November 18th, Parent Conference day, all parents will be invited to come to the school to meet with their child’s teacher. This will be an excellent time to discuss the next steps for improvement for your child to continue to progress.

Ontario EcoSchools is an environmental education program for grades 1 to 12 that helps students develop ecological literacy while engaged in practices to become environmentally responsible citizens. Developed and run by school boards, Ontario EcoSchools also helps reduce the environmental impacts of school building operations.]]>
