With the coming of warmer weather, it is great to see our students out on the yard enjoying the soccer field, baseball diamond, basketball court, and exploring more areas now that have been recently “freed” of snow. Our games of hockey continue to be played, and I would ask that students be sure to put their names on any of their own toys (balls, skipping ropes, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks …) that they bring to enjoy during recess breaks.

As part of our recess routines, I have been making regular morning announcements to students to remind them to come prepared to play outside whenever it is not teeming-rain. This is also a very good time to remind our youngsters to wear sunscreen and hats to protect them from the damaging rays of the sun.

Should you wish there to be a change to your child’s regular routine (arrival, pick-up, lunch-hour,…), I would ask that a signed note come from a child’s parent. In this way, we are certain of your expectation for your child(ren), and we eliminate any confusion for your youngster.

Principal's Message

As a Professional Learning Community, the staff at Ross R MacKay is committed to providing learning experiences that:

• acknowledge student interest
• seek out higher level thinking processes
• reflect community involvement, and
• provide for individual support based on student needs and abilities

I urge and encourage you to become involved in Ross R. MacKay. Teachers are eager to have parental support in the classroom. Your presence would be valued. Whether it is each day or once a month, there are plenty of opportunities. Even if you could spare half an hour just to read to a child, you'll make a big difference in the life of a child.
