Dear School Families,
Just wanted to take a moment to promote School Council at East Garafraxa.
What is it about? It’s all about education! The goal of school council meetings is to open dialogue between families and the school.
How does council communicate? Electronically, mainly. Please join the school council email list below for school-related news and information.
How does council raise money for the school? We strive to offer fundraising in the form of social activities (eg family Halloween dance) or services (eg pizza days, toonie store).
How can I join? New members are always welcome. If interested, please check out our monthly meetings. Babysitting is free.
What if I’d rather just “help out”? Many council activities depend on extra help – watch for opportunities via email and school newsletters.

School Council Executive
On September 15th, 2012, a new School Council was formed. All positions were acclaimed. The executive of the council consists of the following:
- Co-chairs - Michelle Ramsden, Anita Wright
- Secretary - J. Moore
- Non Teaching Rep. – Open
- Teaching Rep. – Greg Sol
- Treasurer – Erika Hoogendoorn
School Council Election – 2013-14
We are currently seeking nominations for anyone interested in becoming an executive or parent member of School Council. Details for all of the Council positions are outlined on the “Roles and Responsibilities” document below, along with a “Self-Nomination Form”. Any parent or guardian of a child attending East Garafraxa Central Public School that may be interested in becoming a member of our School Council, is welcomed to complete the form.
Nominations for executive positions need to be returned by Thursday, August 29th, 2013. In the event of 2 or more persons being nominated for one executive position, elections will be held during the Meet-the-Teacher barbecue on Thursday, September 12th, 2013. If there is only a single candidate for any position on the executive, that candidate will be acclaimed and no election required.
There is no limit to the number of Parent/Guardian Members on the School Council. We look forward to another year of partnership between our School Council and our school.
