History Homework: 5 pages per night....chapters 1,2, and 5 on Confederation Unit

Math Homework: Unit Test on Friday...Grade 6: Place Value and Decimals  Grade 7: Ratio, Rates, Per Cent

Unit 9 Spelling: dictations every Friday

Math: Grade 6: 2.6 and 2.7 from the Nelson Text (Focus on Decimals & Place Value)

         Grade 7: 2.6 and 2.7 in the Nelson Text (Focus on Ratio and Rate problems)

         -unit tests for both grades next week!!!

History: Starting Unit on Confederation -Your kids will have nightly reading for the next 2 weeks

Halloween Party: Thursday, October 28th at East Gary PS

PD Day: Monday, November 2nd, 2010

-Hope everyone had an excellent Thanksgiving Weekend!

-Your kids have some important academic dates this week!

-Geography Test has been moved to Thursday...we will take some more time tomorrow to work on

study skills and Crib Notes.

-Unit 7 Spelling will be due Friday!  Please ensure your students are studying their lists each week for Friday's dictation.

-In French, the students have their autobiographies due on Thursday! Many are done but please check to see if they've met all the criteria of the rubric!

-Please check weekly for marks in your sons' or daughter's dayplanners.  Please make sure they not only have the assessment grade...but also what it was for.....some have gotten a little lazy in the recording of this important information!

-If you'd like to see any of your students' tests or assignments please don't hesitate to ask as all are kept on file in order to avoid the "Terrible Test Eater" under the bed that often eats defenseless intermediate students' work...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Sorry about the lack of updates this week do to the

Cross Country Meet that I convened.  Sorry !

For those with students in the band...they will need to have

their instruments at school every day 3 and day 5.  Instruments are

not to be stored at school as it is tough to practice without your instrument...it's also an

insurance issue.

All of your kids will be concluding their first geography unit of term 1 on Wednesday with

a Unit Test.  They are to be working on their Crib Notes/Study Sheet which they will be allowed

to use during the test.  The Crib Note is also worth 10 marks towards their geography total.

In math, the students are transitioning into their second units; chapter two in the Nelson Texts.

You may have noticed that there are no tests and assignments sent home....At this age they often get

"Lost"...Please watch for marks to be signed in their agendas.  If you'd like to see their tests and assignments I'd be happy to send home a photocopy.
