Afternoon everyone,  tonight students should be finishing off chapter 6.1.  Yes, this has been assigned for a few days now.  It seems that either this unit is proving to be harder than I anticipated or students are choosing not to do their homework.  This is the third hardest unit we will cover this year.  Developing expressions and equations from number and picture patterns is difficult.  I hope we can stay on top of this and really do well on the unit- it will definitely be a focus going into highschool.  Students also have a language assignment to do, they have an earth day evaluation to complete as well as some questions from todays lesson.  Just a note as well, students have a science reading and a quiz this Friday.

Have a great night!

Good evening everyone, hope you all had a fantastic long weekend.  Well, the days are getting longer, and the weather is at least trying to improve.  It won't be long until full-time shorts weather is here. Today students had their recent math test returned to them.  Most did very well, there were a few that struggled- please ask how your child did on the test.  Tonight, students have chapter 6.1 for homework in math.  In language, we are continuing on our advertising unit- we have a few more commercial presentations to do tomorrow and then students will be working on some writing tasks.

On a side note, students will be receiving their Brock packages in the next week or so.  There are a variety of forms to fill out, please take your time with them so we can avoid having them sent back.  Speaking of Brock, some parents have expressed an interest as a chaperone.  We have two moms who have made the commitment and each have CPR and First Aid- thanks again for offering!

Have a great night!

Good afternoon everyone.  We had a fabulous trip to Kitras Glass Studios- kids worked on glowing glass and each student was able to make an ornament which I will hopefully have delivered to the school before kids depart for the extendo weekend.  It was also our last swim day.  Kids did an amazing job in the pool, each student received a certificate noting their achievements.

A calendar note for tomorrow, students have a dance in the afternoon.

Tonight, students should be working on math, chapter 6.1 in the text, questions 1-8.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon all, hope everyone had a great weekend.  A bit depressing with the weather, but, keep up hope, sunny days are straight ahead.  Tonight students should be review concepts on angle measurements.  Tomorrow we have a unit test and I reminded our boys and girls that level 4 questions are just as fair game as level 1 questions.  Prepare for everything!

Also, I'm still waiting for some people to bring in their swim and Kitras forms.  A reminder that we are all going this Wednesday.  The Kitras glass studio is doing a tour, demonstration and glass blowing for those who are interested.  I need all forms in tomorrow- this is a trip that reflects part of the curriculum- there is no cost to the student unless they are interested in doing the activity.  Please parents, please ask your son/daughter for the form so we can get this all taken care of.

Thanks!

Good Night!

Thanks to all the students who wore pink today at school.  It shows that we understand the importance of anti-bullying campaign, especially going into highschool.  I hope this positive attitude continues as student go through their academic careers.

Just a reminder that tomorrow night is our Brock Information Night.  If you would like more information regarding the trip or have questions about programming, security, eating arrangements etc., this is the venue for it.  There is no obligation to come, it is, however an expectation by the board that I do host an information session for you.  So, come on out, we have a video and slide show and I can tell you all about this great program.

Tonight, students were not assigned any homework, but there will is a math test next Tuesday.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon all,

In recognition of Anti-bullying week, students and staff are encouraged to wear pink tomorrow to demonstrate awareness of the issues that involve our students in elementary and high school.  I don't have any homework for tonight but students should pick up some reading they enjoy!

Just a reminder that it's a swim day tomorrow afternoon as well.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon all.  The temperature is dropping as we speak!  I woke up to a balmy 16 degrees and it was beautiful all day!  What gives?  Spring I guess... Tonight, students have math homework- chapter 13.4 to the end as well as a supplement sheet.  We are fully into a unit on angle measurements.  This is a tough unit, students need to work on problem solving to answer many of the questions.

Just a reminder that we swim on Wednesday.  Still waiting for a number of students to bring in their Brock money.  Please do that as soon as possible.

Thanks!  Have a great night!

We had a fantastic day at the skills competition held at the centre wellington community centre.  Our kids gave it their all and many were very close to finishing in the top spot.  I really appreciated the kids dedication and hard work during the day.  It was an exhausting and stressful time as students raced to beat the clock.  All students represented East Gary well and I was very proud of each student's professional attitude.  They certainly deserve a day off!

Don't forget, we need everyone's Brock money in this Monday- we need to get things together as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend!

Afternoon all,  hope everyone is doing well.  I was out of the class today and not sure if the homework for tonight was passed along.  Some students have math to finish from last night as it wasn't completed by many.  Most should be done chapter 13.3 before I see them again next week.  Speaking of which, tomorrow is skills Canada.  A number of our students will be competing in challenges against other students from schools all across the UGDSB.  If you have a child participating, come on out and have a look at what they are doing-some pretty interesting stuff.  I will be away all day tomorrow, and, as you know, Friday is a PD Day.

Tonight, I sent a note home regarding our Brock University trip.  Please have your money in by Monday at the latest.  I did send home notices regarding balance of payment a few weeks ago.  I really need to pay our bill and start working towards the mountain of paperwork that comes with a trip like this.  Please help me out and get that in as soon as possible.  Thanks!

Have a great night! Go Raiders!

Good Monday Everyone!

Tonight, students have Math, Chapter 13.1 and 13.2 to finish up. Likewise, students have 5 science questions to finish for tomorrow's class.  A number of students didn't finish a reading inventory from last week and they have tonight to finish.  In language, we are talking about how famous people often represent products or services for financial gain but don't realize that what damage such a partnership can have on their image. Students need to write about two specific examples they know about.  This will be research for a larger project they are going to start where they will develop a satire of a famous person advertising a product that is totally opposite to that person's personality.

Have a great night!
