Hello all!  What a great day out there today.  Just a quick note to apologize for the Quebec meeting date mess up.  I meant to get a note home and forgot all about it. I have sent a note home tonight with students.  We are planning for next Thursday night here in the gym at 7pm.  Just a quick meeting to discuss the details of the trip and to go over any of the details and answer any questions you might have.  The meeting is not mandatory but if you have any questions regarding the details, it would be nice to have you there to engage in discussion.  If you do have questions and can't make it, please drop me a line or send me an email (the better choice) and I will get back to you at my earliest convenience.

Students have a fractions math test on Thursday, please speak to your children about computing fractions and fractions with whole numbers.  We seem to be struggling a bit with order of operations with fractions and such.  I'm hoping we've remediated many of the issues but it would be nice to just touch base with them and have a good discussion about what they are learning.  Who knows, it may clear up some issues for them.  Also, students have a language sheet they are working on for our point of view unit.  Students will be writing their own fractured fairytale as a culminating task.

Hope you have a great night!

Good Afternoon.  Tonight students should again be working on questions in their respective text - 3.3 and 9.5.  We have a test slated for next Thursday and there will likely be a quiz tomorrow.  Students also have a French assignment due as well as history (Due Friday).

Just a reminder that all swim forms are now over due.  Next Tuesday night we will have an information night for parents regarding the Quebec trip.

Have a great evening!

Happy Tuesday,  Just a quick note that students novel studies went home today. Please check in with them and ask them how things went. There is quite a range of marks and this is a major assignment in English this term.  A quick note about a meeting scheduled for next Tuesday night at East Garafraxa.  A quebec city trip meeting is planned for that evening.  A note will go home tomorrow indicating time and place.  It is not mandatory that parents attend, it's for information only and the meeting must be held to address any concerns or those that require more information.  Please look for that.  Homework tonight:

Grade 8's: Chapter 3.3 1-8

Grade 7's Chapter 9.4 1-8 (after mid chapter review)

Students have been given a one day extension to complete their Olympic scrapbooks.

French homework due Thursday -Worksheet and two oral tests.  En equipe for Thursday as well.

Have a great night!

Hello everyone, sorry for the late post.  It seems like everyone had a great break although it seemed as though some of our students were still on an extended holiday break.  Time to get into the swing of things!  Speaking of which, time is really going fast and we have so much on the go.  April, May and June are going to be crazy busy!  Hold on to your hats!  We have swimming, basketball, track and field, Quebec trip, Graduation, Student success building...  and that's just the tip of the iceberg!  How can you help you ask?  Simple!  Keep reading the blog and help your son/daughter with nightly homework!  Remember, it's okay if something is on at night and homework doesn't get done.  The key is whether or not your student advocates for themself.  Are they attempting to make a compromise for a busy school night?  When are they going to catch up on that missed homework?  Can they take it upon themselves to get it done in 24hours?  Are they staying in at the break to catch up?  These are observations I will be making in third term - it's a very important step in their development.

Anyway, here is the homework for tonight.

Math:          Grade 8 to the end of 3.2

Grade 7 to the end of the mid chapter review

Language:    Students should be finishing off their Olympic Scrapbooks.

French:        I believe they have 5 questions to complete and a sheet for tomorrow.

Have a great night!

Hey everyone, just a quick post tonight. Students should be working on their novel studies (due march 11th) and Math, Chapter 3 for grade 8 and Chapter 9 for grade 7's.  This is a unit of fractions, and from what I can tell, it appears that some work needs to be done.  Please, if you get a chance, talk to your son/daughter about fractions- how to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Bring out a tape measure even.  This is a great way to foster a discussion. That's it!  Have a great night!

Hello all, happy Monday March 1st!  Time sure is flying!  Hope all had a good weekend- all is right with the world today as we celebrate another hockey milestone.  Way to go Canada!  Woohoo!  Tonight students should be working on their novel studies as they are due before the March break.  A couple of pages a night will lighten the load come next week.   No math tonight as we did a pre test today-a great opportunity to work on some number facts or problem solving.

Have a great night!
