Good afternoon all,

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.  Had a great day today, math test in the morning, some science projects and then some spook room prep.  We are very excited about this annual event- it seems like a right of passage for our intermediate students.  Thanks to all the parents who supported us by buying some supplies.  Without you our event doesn't happen!  Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night!

What a great day for soccer! Our intermediate students had a great day at the annual soccer tournament held at the Amaranth Township office just across the street from Laurelwoods Elementary School.  We had 30 students participate in 2 teams and both teams went 1-3 for the day.  Yes, not a winning record but the kids had a blast and we had the most participants of any school, and I'm sure you will agree, that's what really matters.  Thanks to you parents for dropping off and picking up.  Without you, it wouldn't happen!  Thanks for the coffee Helen!  Tomorrow, I won't be in school, I have an inservice all day.  I will be back in the class Friday afternoon as I'm having a look at our new report card on Friday morning.

Not too much homework tonight, students had a busy day.  If need be, students should be catching up on math if they are behind.

Great job Raiders!

Good evening everyone!  Well, it's been a busy week.  Lots to do and so little time.  Studetns have math, 2.2 to finish as well as 1-8 in 2.3.  They have some questions from a reading in Englisha nd they need to do some research on a commercial of their choice (they are researching how media affects consumers) and will need to do some supervised surfing on youtube.  Please ask them about it, it's a neat activity!

Have a great night!

Hello all,  for those of you who didn't get a chance to see your son or daughter out at Lynbrook, you should know it was an amazing day!  Kids had a blast and East Gary did an amazing job placing well in almost every division!  Thanks again to Mr. P who was out at dawn putting some finishing touches on the course.

Tonight, students have to finish chapter 2.1 in the text.

Here's a problem for you keeners.  First three correct answers get a treat!

How far up a wall will an 11m ladder reach, if the foot of the ladder must be 4m from the base of the wall?

Have a great night! WallPic

Good Evening All,

Homework tonight, students have a math response on Pythagorean Theorem to finish. We discussed the theory and watched a video on the concept.  Students need to write down what they think the theory is about, using ideas from the video.  Students should also finish the current events reading on the gulf oil leak.  Students also have a French rough copy due Thursday.

Have a great night!

Hello all, hope you all have a great weekend.  Just a quick note that many students have not completed a number of homework items, from science to language to math.  I feel most did well on the summative math test but the trend is steadily moving towards work being incomplete.  Parents, please speak with your children regarding the expectations for homework.  As a note, I will be at inservice next Wednesday October 13th, 2010.

See you Monday!
