Good afternoon all, tonight students have a bit of science and math (6.3) and they should be well on their way with speeches.  I've reminded everyone as well that it only takes a bit of reading before bed to really dig into some red maple reading.  Students can literally get through a book in a week if they take the time to read before bed.

Students will have an opportunity to speak with the guidance department from Westside as Mr. Brad Sippel will be in to talk about course selections, and all the happenings at Westside. This is once again part of our transition plan for our 8's going to highschool. On Wednesday, students have have grad photos in the morning.  I've asked girls to bring a white blouse to wear and the boys, a white dress shirt.  No need to iron the shirt other than perhaps the collar.  If boys or dads have a blue or red tie, please bring it in.  I will have some ties available and will help each of them get it tied correctly.

Have a great night!

Skiing cancelled.

Good afternoon all,  just a reminder that the 7 and 8 class are skiing tomorrow.  If you are attending, please remember that you are to be at school for 7:45am for 8:00am departure.  We are anticipating some rough weather tonight, please be mindful if skiing is a go tomorrow that the conditions will be wet and a change of clothes will likely be helpful. If in the event you do believe tomorrow is a snow day, please consult this blog at 6:30am tomorrow for confirmation.  I will be prompt in relaying that information.  Students should be working on their speeches this weekend as I would like to see a rough copy from all students by Monday at the latest.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good afternoon all.  Just wanted to remind everyone that we are skiing this Friday at Mansfield.  This is trip 2 of 3 and we get going again at 8am.  Please be here promptly at 7:45am so we can get our things together and get going early.  Tonight students have Math, chapter 6.3 q1-8 and Language, the introduction to their speech done in good copy.  We also worked on a science lab today that will be due on Thursday.  As always, students should be reading their red maple in preparation to complete their novel studies which will be due in February and March.

Thanks! Have a great night!

Good afternoon all.  I was in the office today and didn't get a chance to assign any homework.  Hopefully students took it upon themselves to bring some things home with them- particularly their red maple reading and math.  A reminder also that tonight is the Westside open house.  It says on the website that it runs from 6-8pm but I believe Mr. Sippel from Westside Guidance said 7pm.  Perhaps give a call to Westside if you read this early enough.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon all!  What a slippery slidy morning it was!  We all arrived safe and sound although I did hear that some of our buses had a difficult time with it.  Hopefully it doesn't keep up!  Tonight students should be studying for a science quiz coming up tomorrow and they should have their subtopics arranged for their speeches.  We will be working away on this tomorrow.  As always, they should be reading their red maple novels at some point in the night- a good time is right before bed.  I suggest they curl up with their book under a night light- a great way to bring the sleep on.

Have a good night!

Good afternoon Students and Parents,

Well, we had a pretty decent day skiing on Friday.  Not a ton of snow as you are well aware, but our kids made the most of the day.  We are looking ahead to next Friday and hoping that some more snow is on the way.

Tonight students should be reading their red maple(as always for the next while), they have math, chapter 6.1 and they need to be organizing their subtopics for speeches(due Wednesday).  On Wednesday students have a science quiz on the first cells unit.  Lots to do in the next while, I've reminded them that they need to be on their homework, and when they can't get it done, let me know before hand.

Just a reminder as well that the Westside, Parent Open house is this Wednesday at 7pm.  I've asked students to have their course selection sheets into me no later than January 31st as that's when the guidance department from Westside will be back to visit us.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon everyone,  tonight students should take time to review their notes and work through the review and practice test for their final assessment in Chapter 4- Probability.  It's not a difficult unit but students should be working through some of the problem type questions.  Students again should be reading their Red Maple Novels as we are really emphasizing personal reading over the next few months.  Today I sent home a reminder about skiing.  I've asked parents to have their child at the school no later than 7:45am for a 8am departure.  We will be returning likely around 5:00pm or 5:15pm. Should you have any concerns, please email me.

Have a great night!

Good afternoon all!  Hope everyone had a great break with lots of rest and relaxation.  We are ready to go with lots of cool stuff planned for January and beyond.  I sent ski forms howe with students tonight. I apologize for not getting them out sooner, but we were hoping to bus with Laurelwoods to save money- they unfortunately can't help us out this year.  So, please, please get those forms in as soon as possible so that we can get all the paperwork taken care of.  Also, of note, the Westside open house is this January, 18th, 2012.  This is an opportunity for graduating students and parents to learn a little about what highschool will be like.  Please plan on attending.

Tonight students have some math homework.  Tonight they have math in chapter 4.4 to Finish.  We are also approaching Speech season and students need to start thinking about unique and interesting speech topics.  I hope we are able to get a few who want to go to the gym.  Finally, students chose a red maple novel as we begin our Forest of Reading unit.  I am expecting that students are reading their novel each night as we try to all reach the goal of having read all ten novels in the set.  This is of course a lofty goal, but I can tell you that this year's novels are quite compelling and a good read for all.  I even implore parents to pick up one of the novels!

Have a great night all!
